Grand Carousel

Grand Carousel

Purchased originally for Cincinnati’s Coney Island in 1926, this Carousel was among the rides that were brought to Kings Island in 1972 for it’s first season.

The Grand Carousel has 28 jumping horses, 20 stationary horses and has been painted with more than 20,000 sheets of 23-karat gold and 1,000 sheets of sterling silver. The horses on the outer ring are all stationary while the middle ring features the jumping horses and the inner ring features both horses.

The Grand Carousel made an appearance in an episode of The Partridge Family when it was filmed at Kings Island in 1972. The Carousel is the oldest ride at Kings Island.
