Snoopy Unleashed

When Charlie Brown tries to put a leash on Snoopy, America’s favorite beagle lets it be known he’s way too cool to put up with that indignity. Snoopy gets lose and proceeds to take us on a rock ‘n roll journey! This ice skating family spectacular will have you cheering!

The show started off with a peppy, upbeat, song with a marching band theme. The cast came out wearing purple, blue, and white band uniforms and some of them even had drums. The backdrop said “Pride of Snoopy Marching Band”. Once the marching song ended, they played the song “Some Nights” by Fun while introducing the skaters. It was a great way to start the awesome show. When “Some Nights” ended, another marching band style song came on. It was about “joining together with the band”. During this song, Amanda Meritt and Ryan Gutzmer got to be the center of attention as Ryan lifted Amanda in the air and spun.

The next theme was paint. Everyone came out with paint brushes and paint rollers and skated around as the song played. The song was pretty much about the world being so colorful. After that, the spotlight was on Katie McGuire, who did a few skating tricks while a song about painting stuff black played. It had a very creepy feel to it, which made people want to pay more attention. The choreography was very well thought out, especially towards the end when everyone came in and did sort of a sideways motion. Following this song, was another paint song, but this time there were even more props, which included the ladders and even some paint buckets. The skaters were skating around while swinging their paint buckets in the air. At the end of that song, the cast members lined up at the edge of the stage and pretended to dump their paint buckets out. Out came a glittery fabric material, but it was very cool to watch.

Once the whole paint theme was finished, the audience’s attention was turned to the TV’s on the sides of the stage. On the TV, a guy announced that the Great Houndini (Snoopy) would be doing some magic tricks. Snoopy put the guy in a box and his body parts ended up being out of order. Then later, the guy was fine and asked people if they wanted to see a card trick. Finally, the audience’s attention was directed back to the stage where three giant cards stood in the middle of it. A song came on and Amanda and Ryan came out of the cards. They did an impressive routine together including Ryan lifting Amanda in the air again. After this song ended, a giant hat appeared in the center of the ice, but it had two halves to it. Some guys put the two halves together and when it was opened back up, all the girls came out of it. They then skated to a song, which had the words “now you see it, now you don’t” in it. Once that song ended, “Magic Carpet Ride” came on and a red headed girl led the other girls in a skating routine. Lastly, one of the best songs in the show, “Abracadabra”, played as the cast skated around. Their last trick was making a red doghouse float in the air and disappear. This was the end of the magic themed portion of the show.

As an introduction to the food themed section, which came next, they played a video with a supposedly “famous” chef on it and he was hosting a show called Heck’s Kitchen. Snoopy was a contestant and started making popcorn, which upset the guy. Following this, a song started playing about a “super chef on TV” (Snoopy). Some of the male skaters came out for this song wearing red and black chef outfits. Then everyone came out and a song about eating at a house came on. During this song, the cast used chairs as props while skating around and Katie did a fabulous skating routine. After this song, another song started and Amanda and Ryan skated a short routine together again. Once they were done, all of the girls came out of a huge oven wearing dresses that were made of brown dog bone treats. They played a song about “tasty biscuits”, which was then followed by the song “Eat It” by Weird Al. While this song played, Trey Ehre skated around and did some tricks. It was very cool to watch, especially when he did jumps. The food section of the show concluded with Trey’s performance.

The last section of the show started with the song “Hall of Fame” by the Script. A girl was swinging around on a white “rope” while Amanda, Ryan, Katie, and Trey skated on the ice. Next, “Hands Up” by September started playing and everyone came out wearing white. A guy named Shane even did a little flip on the ice. It was a very awesome trick to watch. The whole audience applauded for Shane. After that, the cast continued to dance and skate. They even lined up and kicked their legs up as a group simultaneously. Right after “Hands Up” ended, “Gangam Style” by PSY came on. It only played for about a minute but everyone did the well known dance that went with that song. “You Spin Me Round” by Dead or Alive was the final song of the show. The cast did a bunch of spinning moves and then everyone’s name was announced. As the curtains were closing, the cast was still dancing, including Snoopy.

Overall, this show is a great experience for people of all ages. It gives guests a little taste of ice skating mixed with popular songs and of course…Snoopy! Sadly, the Good Time Theatre no longer exists today. It was torn down in 2015 to make room for further expansion of the park. This theater and show will be missed by many people.
