Magnum XL-200

Situated on the Lake Erie shore, Magnum  XL-200 was the first roller coaster to ever climb to heights above 200 feet. Magnum XL-200 tops out at 205 feet. On a clear day, riders can see Canada from the very top. As riders crest over Magnum’s first hill, the trains send riders on a course of multiple hills, three tunnels, and a signature pretzel turn around.

Magnum also broke the mold when it became the first coaster to reach speeds higher than 70 mph at 72 mph. This coaster is known for massive air time.

Fun Facts About the World’s First Hypercoaster:

  • Started the roller coaster wars
  • Awarded ACE Coaster Landmark on June 21, 2004
  • Originally a scarlet red color, but later pained moly orange in 2005
  • Three tunnels during the ride
  • Second hill 157 feet tall and third hill feet tall
  • It is not sinking as stated by a newspaper as an April Fools joke
