Blue Streak

Blue Streak is Cedar Point’s classic wooden coaster and the oldest operating coaster in the park which opened in 1964. Blue Streak is a traditional out-and-back coaster that treats riders to the classic thrills of gravity-driven speed and unexpected airtime.

Built by Philadelphia Toboggan Company, Blue Streak, was named after “The Blue Streaks,” which was the nickname of the Sandusky High School athletic teams. Blue Streak cost $200,000 to build and to some was known as the replacement for a former Cedar Point roller coaster, Cyclone.

Blue Streak has two trains, each with four cars and three rows sitting two people across each row.  There is a ton of airtime on this classic coaster that reaches speeds of 40 mph!

For twelve years, Blue Streak was the tallest roller coaster at Cedar Point, from 1964-1975.

Blue Streak wasn’t always blue. When it opened, the wood was unpainted.  Before the 2012 season, Cedar Point repainted Blue Streak with a fresh coat of paint to make it brighter than ever before!

Ride Experience:

You leave the station, go around to the left and beging going up a 78 foot lifthill.  You then descend 72 feet at a 45 degree angle reaching 40 miles per hour. You then go up and down to short hills, enjoying the maximum amount of airtime on the ride. Next is a third hill that slows you down a bit. After the next drop, you climb into a 180 degree turn that sends you over another short hill. You then go over three medium hills and then arrive at the final brake run, slowing down before returning to the station.
